6 ways to get involved with British Flowers Week 2021

A whole week dedicated to the amazing world of floristry! British Flowers Week takes place from the 14th-20th June this year, with festivities taking place across the nation celebrating all the very best British blooms, local florists, British growers and inspiring the public with flowers. An initiative founded by New Covent Garden Market back in 2013, I have loved watching it grow year on year – with 2021 promising to be the most exciting yet.

Send some british blooms

June is a fabulous month for British grown flowers – some of my favourites include peonies, sunflowers, lavender, hydrangeas and sweet peas …. and so many more! And not forgetting the fresh green foliage that will be in season such as beech and birch, which are amazing to use in floral designs.

Why not send a dear friend or someone special a gorgeous bouquet of flowers to celebrate British Flowers Week? Town Garden have a gorgeous selection of flowers online to choose from, and my team use the finest, seasonal blooms for our creations – often hand picked by me fresh from the local flower markets that very morning!

Exhibition at Garden Museum

Running from the 10-15th June 2021, the Garden Museum in the heart of London will have a British Flower Week exhibition not to be missed! 5 of the UK’s top florists will create floral installations and sculptures using environmentally friendly methods to transform the Garden Museum into a flower wonderland with scented blooms bursting with colour.

Book your ticket online to visit the exhibition at Garden Museum and check out their other special floristry events taking place this year.

visit Instagram famous lavender

Recently voted the most instagrammable flower spot in the UK – and its right on our doorstep! Visit the famous Hitchin Lavender Fields –  spectacular sight of a sea of purple lavender. Pack your favourite picnic lunch (and  bring your four legged friends) and enjoy exploring the gorgeous surroundings. You can book your visit online, tickets sell out fast as it's very popular so book early to avoid disappointment.

Explore local gardens

Get out and explore the fabulous local gardens in and around Hertfordshire that are full of gorgeous June blooms. A couple of my favourite hidden gems are the Gotha Gardens at Pembroke Farm is just 10 miles from central Hitchin, an easy 15 minute drive and has lovely rose gardens, flower beds brimming with country style stems and a tea room for a slice of delicious cake. A little further afield is Cheslyn House and Gardens in Watford, which has spectacular grounds and woodlands to wander – see if you can find their Secret Garden!
