The best flowers to put a Spring in your step

We may lose an hour in bed this weekend with the clocks jumping forward but it also makes me feel like Spring is finally on our doorstep – and ohhhh am I excited for it this year! For me, Spring is the season to have a bit of fun with flower colours and designs  - with the days finally getting longer and sunnier (yay!), I love adding splashes of vibrant shades for stylish and happy vibes. When I visit the local flower markets and growers, they are full to the brim with beautiful blooms that are in season during Spring months such as Tulips, Hyacinth, Lilac, Freesia, Iris, Daffodils and Alliums. With all these gorgeous flowers at my finger tips it means I can create bespoke bouquets and flowers for my lovely Town Garden customers – something a bit different to help you celebrate Spring!

Here are a couple of my favourite flowers for Spring, which make great gifts to send friends and family to wish them a 'Hoppy' Easter or simply to treat yourself to enjoy at home over the long bank holiday weekend!

Stylish Ranunculus

I adore Ranunculus, and never seem to be able to resist when I see them at the flower market! Check out these stunners I picked up from the market fresh today – the rich velvet purple petals are just beautiful in a bouquet, adding a modern twist for floral gifts. The Ranunculus blooms are at their very finest in Spring months too, so are perfect for floral designs and popular for weddings this time of year.

Happy Gerberas

Designed by my Town Garden team, Gerbera Delight Bouquet is the perfect gift for those who adore Gerberas! Gerbera Daisies are famous for their bright and cheerful vibe, and these flowers absolutely cherish the sun – just like sunflowers, the gerbera follows the sun in the sky throughout the day. My favourite combination for Easter is using burnt orange and sunshine yellow gerberas, complimented with lush green foliage.

Rainbow Tulips

Often said to be the first sign of Spring, Tulips are a firm favourite with you guys! A kaleidoscope of colours are available meaning there is a tulip colour for every taste – just look at these Tulips from our local flower market, trust me it is always hard to pick which ones to bring back with me!

Tulips are a great flower for Spring gifts too – keep it simple with a beautiful bouquet of mixed colour Tulips and green foliage, and if well looked after Tulips stay looking lovely for 5-7 days so will last over the whole of Easter bank holiday weekend. Tulips are esepcially thirsty blooms, so keeping them topped up with fresh tap water daily will help keep them in top top condition.

Modern Jam Jars

For something a little bit different this Easter, try my Trio of Jam Jars for Easter style! 3 glass jam jars filled with seasonal Spring flowers for mini explosions of colour in the home. I use a fab mix of blooms in different sizes, textures and shades such as lilac roses, blue iris, delicate freesias for a modern country vibe.

Ideal for popping on a windowsill, coffee table or kitchen island – you can display them together for impact or dot them around for little pops of colour.
